Well, the next time that happens, check out a few free apps and websites that will find the song and artist in just a few clicks. You can even find songs you hear in advertisements.  

 

Safe Sleep for Baby

According to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, "On average, almost 400 Texas babies die in their sleep each year - suddenly, unexpectedly, and without a clear explanation or due to accidental suffocation or strangulation. That's why it is so important to always give babies "Room to Breathe."

Check out the recipe for Lasagna Timpano, where Whelan gives step-by-step directions for making a mouthwatering multi-layered, "multi-flavored" lasagna.

Houston Housing Choice Voucher Program

keysFor one week from Monday, August 20 to Sunday, August 26, 2012, the Houston Housing Authority will for the first time in 6 years be accepting applications to get onto the waiting list for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. The voucher program helps low-income families, senior citizens and persons with disabilities rent safe, affordable homes in and around Houston. 

Houston Housing Authority’s online application for the Housing Choice Voucher Program is available at www.housingforhouston.com.   Complete an application to sign up for an online lottery for the housing assistance waiting list.  The application is offered in English and Spanish.

The program begins on August 20th at 8 a.m. and ends August 26th at midnight.  Beginning August 13th, applicants with questions can call a special hotline:1-855-702-9130.  The hotline will support English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese speakers as well as hearing impaired applicants.

Broken Glass Candles

multicolor glass jar candlesI love these broken glass candles.  The creator used simple glass containers, broken windshield glass, clear votive holders, and color changing votive lights. I've noticed that LED lights are very popular now as well, I've seen them inside candles and other light fixtures that would traditionally hold a candle. These are perfect for my house since I have a young child and do not want to have to worry about accidents and visits from the fire department.  Now, since most of us probably don't have broken windshield glass laying around, I think glass marbles would be a great alternative for the glass filling.
